Damp-Eliminating Herbs     

 

 

pubescent angelica root (radix angelicae pubescentis; du huo)

expelling pathogenic wind and dampness to relieve pain and dispersing pathogenic cold from the body superficies to relieve exterior syndrome.

tetrandra root (radix stephaniae tetrandrae; fang ji)

expelling wind to relieve pain and inducing diuresis to alleviate edema.

loranthus mulberry mistletoe (ramulus loranthis; sang ji sheng)

expelling wind-dampness, invigorating the liver and kidney, strengthening the muscles and bones, and nourishing the blood to prevent abortion.

atractylodes rhizome (rhizoma atractylodis; cang zhu)

drying dampness, strengthening the spleen, dispelling wind and removing dampness, diminishing cataract and improving acuity of vision.

 

 

agastache (herba agastachis; huo xiang)

removing dampness, relieving exterior syndrome and summer-heat, promoting appetite and stopping vomiting.

amomum fruit (frutus amomi; sha ren)

resolving dampness to improve appetite, warming the spleen to stop diarrhea, and regulating the activities of qi to prevent abortion.

 

poria (poria; fu ling)

inducing diuresis, excreting dampness, invigorating the spleen, replenishing the middle-jiao, and tranquilizing the mind.

umbellate pore-fungus (polyporus umbellatus; zhu ling)

inducing diuresis and excreting dampness.

oriental water plantain rhizome (rhizoma alismatis; ze xie)

inducing diuresis, excreting dampness and expelling pathogenic heat.

plantain seed (semen plantaginis; che qian zi)

inducing diuresis to treat stranguria, excreting dampness to arrest diarrhea, clearing heat from the liver to improve the acuity of vision, clearing away heat in the lung to resolve phlegm.

manshurian aristolochia stem (cauls aristolochiae manshuriensis; mu tong)

inducing diuresis to treat stranguria, expelling heat and promoting lactation.

lysimachia (herba lysimachiae; jin qian cao)

inducing diuresis to treat stranguria, removing lithiasis, eliminating dampness, relieving jaundice, clearing.

oriental wormwood (herba artemisiae capillaris; yin chen hao)

eliminating dampness and heat, normalizing the function of the gallbladder and treating jaundice.
