Huaihua Zhenghao Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as HZPC), the predecessor of Huaihua Local Pharmaceutical Factory, was founded in west  Hunan in 1960s during the “National Hinterland Construction” in compliance with state strategy, has transferred into a stock company since 1997 through joint-stock reformation institutionally. Taking advantage of the abundant Chinese herbs materials in the nearby Xuefeng Mountains, HZPC has been developing rapidly in the pattern of “marketing Chinese traditional medicine and manufacturing modern preparations”.

Ever since its foundation, HZPC has been adhering to the operational principle-- Devote Chinese Medicine Rarity and Create Civilization of Human Health-- and the corporate intension-- HZPC Provide Products Really Fine (Zhenghao means “really fine” in Chinese). To achieve the goal, HZPC regards product quality as its vitality, having been trying to develop and manufacture outstanding products of high and new technology to meet the demands and requests of millions of consumers in spite of the fact that myriad changes are always taking place fast in the market.

With all economic indicators growing in high speed year after year, HZPC has grown into the largest Chinese medicine company in a region covering such provinces as Hunan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Guangxi and Chongqing municipality. For many years, HZPC has had prominent economic and social benefits. By the end of 2005, the total assets of HZPC has amounted to RMB170,000,000 with fixed assets up to RMB65,320,000 and paid tax of more than RMB70,000,000.

HZPC has won many glories through stressing precision and actual effects in management, manufacturing products of high quality but proper price, and providing excellent services. From 1997 to 2002 it had been rewarded by Ten Top Medical Enterprises of Hunan Province in succession; in 2000 it won the fifth National Advanced Unit of Equipment Control; in 2001 HZPC manage mode, Integration of Human Resources, won the first prize of the Eighth National Innovative Business Management; in 2000 and 2001 it was appraised at the same time as Advanced Unit of Quality Control in Hunan Province and Advanced Unit in Civilization and Hygiene in Hunan Province in succession.

In 1998, the technological development of “Yuqing Serial Medicines” was classified as Sparking Plan of Hunan Province and as the National Sparking Plan in 1999. And the development of “Yuqing Anti-hysteritis Tablets” was subsidized by Technological Innovation Fund for Minor Scientific and Technological Enterprises held by the State Ministry of Science and Technology in 2002. In 2003, “Eight Flavor Dysmenorrhoea Relieving Tablets” was appraised as Outstanding Technological Innovation Project in Hunan Province. In 2004, the third-period clinical experiment of “Qixian Shenbai Kernels” was regarded as a key program of Hunan Science and Technology Plan 2004, while the Industrialization of Traditional Chinese Medicine was listed in the Great Development Plan of Western Hunan. Over the years, HZPC has been a big tax-payer and has made indelible contribution to the economic development and local employment of Huaihua.

When undergoing technical transformation as per GMP requirement, HZPC not only introduced advanced extraction apparatus and preparation apparatus of Chinese medicines, but also built the Chinese herb preliminary treatment workshop with annual extraction amount as many as 10,000 tons, and the preparation workshop with annual output up to RBM500,000,000. And it also has successively introduced other advanced testing equipment such as the high performance liquid chromatograph, thin layer scanner, etc. from Japan or Switzerland. At present HZPC produces nine herbal product preparations of tablet, granule, syrup, decoction, ointment, oral solution, herb spirit, external application and raw material herbal product, as well as more than 100 varieties of Chinese medicines for 16 kinds of diseases. “Yuqing Gynecological Medicines” include “Yuqing Anti-hysteritis Tablets”, “Jingangteng Syrup”, “Lotion for Private Part Itching”, “Eight Flavor Dysmenorrhoea Relieving Tablets”, and so on.

“Zhenghao Special Medicines” include “Brain Activating Tablets” and “Shujinghuoxue” Tablets, and so on.

“Pediatric Medicines” include “Oral Liquid Effective for Pediatric Cough and Asthma”, “Oral Liquid for Pediatric Indigestion”, and so on.

“Doctor-of-Coldness Medicines” include “Granular Formulation for Wind-cold Coldness”, “Granular Formulation for Wind-heat Coldness”, and so on.

Among the above, some products, such as “Lotion for Private Part Itching” and “Eight Flavor Dysmenorrhoea Relieving Tablets”, etc. have obtained the letter of patent from the State Intellectual Property Bureau. “Yuqing Anti-hysteritis Tablets”, a new high-tech product, is praised as National Preserved Chinese Medicine, National Key New Medicine and Leading Brane Product of Hunan Province, and “Jingangteng Syrup” is also National Preserved Chinese Medicine and Leading Brand Product of Hunan Province.

HZPC has been advocating the idea that “one cannot make high quality medicines without high quality medicinal materials”, therefore, in order to meet the increasing demand of product without sacrificing the product quality, HZPC has been trying hard to ensure the high quality and stable purchasing of herbal product ingredients, for example, it has adapted a brand new developmental mode--“company cooperate with peasants” evidenced by the establishment of beautyberry planting bases, which cover over 1500 mu(1.000.005 square meters) in counties such as Huitong and Zhongfang. The beautyberry base program is regarded as diversified farming in “National Integrated Agriculture Development”.
