Properties:
Sweet in flavour, mild in nature, and it acts on heart,
kidney and large intestine channels. As a mild sweet an
moistening agent, it is effective in treating the
insomnia, dreaminess due to deficiency of the energy of
the heart and mind by nourishing the heart to calm the
mind. In addition, the herb acts on large intestine
channel to relax bowel and relieve constipaion for dryness
of intestine and oppilaton.
Effects:
Tranquilizing he mind by nourishing the heart, relaxing
bowel to relieve the constipation.
Indications:
1. For the
treatment of palpitation, frightening, insomnia, amnesia,
spontaneous and night sweating due to deficiency of Qi and
blood, less nourishing of heart and mind. The herb is
often used together with tonics and traquilzers, such as
Radix Ginseng, Radix Astragali, Radix Angelicae Sinesis,
Fructus Schisandrae and Concha Ostreae, such as Decoction
of Nourishing Heart, Pill of Biotae, etc.
2. For the
treatment of consumption of body fluid, retention of
pathogenic heat in intestine and dry stool, the herb is
usually used with Semen Persicae, Semen Armeniacae Amarum
and Semen Pruni, which can moisten the bowel to relieve
constipation, such bolus containing five kinds of seed.
Dosage and
Administration: 10-20g.
