Herba
Agrimoniae
Properties:
The herb is bitter and puckery in flavour, neutral in
nature, and acts on the lung, liver and spleen channels.
Being puckery and acting on blood in the liver channel for
stopping bleeding by astringency, and neutral for
mildness, the herb can be used to treat various kinds of
bleeding due to clod or heat of deficiency or excess type.
In addition, with the effects of clearing posions and
curing dysentery, the herb can be used to treat septicemic
sore, diarrhea and dysentery.
Effects: Stopping
bleeding by astringency, clearing toxins and curing
dysentery.
Indication:
1. For
haematemesis, epistaxis, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis, hemafecia and other kinds of bleeding, the herb can be
used in combination with dried rehmannia root, scutellaria
root, cogongrass rhizome and other herbs for cooling blood
to stop bleeding, to treat bleeding due to blood-heat; and
with prepared ginger, charred argyi leaf, charred palm and
other herbs for stopping bleeding by warming the channels
and by astringency, to treat bleeding due to cold of
deficiency type.
2.
To treat carbuncle and other septicemic sore, the
herb can be used alone for oral medication or external
application, and also in combination with other herbs for
clearing heat and toxins. To treat chronic dysentery with
bloody stool, the herb can be used in combination with
charred honeysuckle flower, charred scutellaria root and
other herbs for clearing heat from blood and toxins and arresting
dysentery.
Dosage and
Researches: 10-15g.30-60g for a large dose.
