Properties:
It is pungent and sweet in flavour, slightly
cold in nature and acting on the lung, spleen
and stomach channels. Pungent and cool for
lifting and dispersing, and sweet and cool for
clearing heat and removing toxic substances. It
has a weak effect of dispelling exopathogens and
a considerably strong effect of elevating Yang
and promoting eruption. It is also good at
clearing Yangming toxic heat. It is indicated
for measles without smooth eruption, sinking of
Qi in the middle Jiao, excessive heat in the
stomach and other syndromes.
Effects:
Inducing sweats to dispel
exopathogens, promoting eruption, elevating
Yang, lifting Qi, clearing heat and removing
toxic.
Indication:
1. It
can be used in combination with raw gypsum,
dahurian angelica root and other drugs for
clearing Yangming heat from the interior and
dispersing pathogenic wind-heat from the
exterior, to treat upward attack by wind-heat
and Yangming headache; and with pueraria root,
such as Shengma Gegen Decoction for elevating
Yang and promoting eruption, to treat infantile
measles without smooth eruption.
2.
To treat sinking of Qi in the middle
Jiao, lingering fiarrhea, proctoptosis and
hysteroptosis, etc, it is used in combination
with astragalus root and bupleurum root for
invigorating Qi, elevating Yang, strengthening
the middle Jiao and lifting Qi.
3.
It can be used in combination with
raw gypsum and coptis root for purging
stomach-fire, sore throat, aphtha, toothache and
headache; and with isatis leaf and raw sysum for
clearing heat, purging fire, removing heat from
blood and eliminating toxins, to treat febrile
disease affected by exopathogens and exanthema
maculosum.
Dosage and Administration:
3-10g.Used stir-baked with honey for elevating
Yang and lifting Qi, and used unprepared for
others.
